Kohli's Emotional Tribute After RCB's First IPL Title

Virat Kohli expressed deep emotions following the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's first-ever IPL championship, marking the end of an 18-year wait. This victory was not only a milestone for the team but also a testament to the unwavering support he received from his wife, Anushka Sharma, whose journey alongside him has been equally important.

“It’s been 11 years for her as well, you know. Relentlessly coming to games, watching tough games, watching us just miss out. What your life partner does for you to be able to play, and the sacrifices, and the commitment, and just backing you through thick and thin, is something you can’t explain in words,” Kohli remarked after the match.

“Only when you play professionally, you understand the amount of things that go on behind the scenes, and what they go through as well.”

Kohli noted that Anushka, a Bengaluru native, has been a steadfast supporter of RCB since 2014. Their relationship has been characterized by mutual support during both triumphs and challenges, making this victory particularly meaningful.

Kohli's Tears of Joy During the Final

During the final match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Kohli was visibly emotional in the 20th over as RCB approached a historic win against Punjab Kings. After the last ball was bowled, he shared a heartfelt embrace with Anushka Sharma.

“What Anushka has gone through emotionally, watching me, being down and out, her coming to games, being so connected with Bangalore, she’s a Bangalore girl as well, and being connected to RCB, this is very, very special for her as well, and she’s going to be so, so proud,” he shared.

With RCB's triumph, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals remain the only teams from the inception of the IPL that have yet to secure a championship.
