Kohli's Remarkable Achievement

Bengaluru: Virat Kohli has made headlines once again by surpassing the impressive milestone of 16,000 runs in List A cricket during his comeback in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Wednesday.

Representing Delhi in a match against Andhra Pradesh at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, Kohli reached this significant achievement with his very first run while chasing a target of 299. This accomplishment further solidifies his legacy as one of the all-time greats in the 50-over format.

Kohli is now the second Indian, following the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, to achieve this remarkable figure in List A cricket. At 37 years old, he becomes the ninth player globally to reach this milestone, joining the elite company of cricket icons such as Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakkara, and Sir Vivian Richards.

His last participation in the Vijay Hazare Trophy was back in the 2010-11 season when he captained Delhi. Although he played in the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy in 2013-14, he had been absent from the Vijay Hazare for nearly ten years prior to this return. His comeback was highly anticipated, and this milestone marked a perfect start to Delhi’s campaign.

While reaching 16,000 List A runs highlights Kohli's brilliance, his ODI achievements are even more impressive. He ranks as the second-highest run-scorer in ODI history, trailing only Sachin Tendulkar.

With 14,557 runs from 308 matches at an outstanding average of 58.46, Kohli is the fastest player to reach 14,000 runs in ODI cricket. He also holds the record for the most centuries in ODIs, with 53 to his name.

Despite his illustrious career, Kohli is still pursuing Tendulkar’s record of 60 centuries in List A cricket. Currently, he has 57 centuries, surpassing Tendulkar’s previous record of 53 in ODIs.

Kohli made his List A debut in 2006 for Delhi during the Ranji One-Day Tournament, and his career has been nothing short of extraordinary. Over the years, he has showcased exceptional performances in various domestic competitions, particularly in the 50-over format.
