On Sunday, Indian cricket star Virat Kohli made history by becoming the second player in men's ODI cricket to surpass 15,000 runs. This remarkable feat was accomplished during India's opening ODI match against the West Indies at the Greenfield International Stadium.

Kohli reached this significant milestone with his 59th run of the innings, joining the ranks of legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar in the exclusive 15,000-run club. Entering the match with 14,941 runs, Kohli needed just 59 runs to hit the landmark, achieving it in his 315th ODI, thus becoming the fastest player to reach this mark. Additionally, he recorded his 80th ODI half-century during this innings, further enhancing his impressive statistics in the 50-over format.

A Record-Breaking Career

Prior to this match, Kohli had accumulated 14,941 runs at an impressive average of 58.59, including 54 centuries and 79 fifties. His highest score in ODIs stands at 183. With this latest achievement, Kohli solidified his position in second place on the all-time ODI run-scoring list, trailing only Tendulkar, who concluded his ODI career with 18,426 runs. Kohli has also had a stellar record against the West Indies, amassing over 2,200 runs against them in ODIs prior to this series.
