Vinicius Jr. Joins Elite Brazilian Ranks

Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr. has made history by becoming the third player from Brazil to both score and assist in two different FIFA World Cup tournaments, joining the ranks of legends Jairzinho and Rivaldo.

In the current tournament, Vinicius has netted two goals and provided one assist. He was Brazil's only scorer in their 1-1 draw against Morocco, where he scored in the first half and assisted Matheus Cunha's goal in the 36th minute. Previously, he had scored once during the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar against South Korea. According to Opta, he now stands alongside Jairzinho (1970 and 1974) and Rivaldo (1998 and 2002) as a notable figure in World Cup history.

Brazil Secures 3-0 Victory Against Haiti

Brazil kicked off their FIFA World Cup 2026 journey with a commanding 3-0 win over Haiti in Philadelphia, taking the lead in Group C and dashing Haiti's hopes of advancing to the knockout stage.

Following a disappointing 1-1 draw against Morocco in their first match, Carlo Ancelotti's team was under pressure to deliver a strong performance.

Haiti entered the match with optimism after a spirited effort against Scotland, despite their loss.

First-Half Goals Seal the Match

Brazil displayed their attacking prowess right from the start, initially believing they had scored when Raphinha found the net from a clever pass by Bruno Guimaraes, only for the goal to be disallowed due to offside.

The breakthrough came midway through the first half when Vinicius Junior's powerful shot was saved by goalkeeper Johny Placide, but Matheus Cunha was quick to react, pushing the ball over the line despite the Haitian defense's efforts.

Cunha soon doubled Brazil's lead with a precise finish, racing onto a perfectly timed pass from Vinicius and striking the ball into the roof of the net, leaving Placide with no chance.

Vinicius then scored a third goal before halftime, taking advantage of Haiti's high defensive line to sprint through and calmly slot the ball past Placide.

The only downside for Brazil in the first half was Raphinha's injury, which forced him to leave the field.

Second Half Developments and Group Standings

Haiti showed more attacking intent in the second half and nearly scored when defender Ricardo Ade's header from a corner forced a sharp save from Alisson Becker.

Despite fewer chances in the second half, Brazil maintained control and thought they had scored a fourth through Endrick, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

This victory places Brazil with four points from two matches, tied with Morocco but ahead on goal difference, positioning them well for a spot in the Round of 32. They will face Scotland in their final group match, while Haiti's elimination was confirmed despite a stronger performance in the second half.
