Praise for Young Talent

Vikram Rathour, the batting coach for Rajasthan Royals, expressed high regard for young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi following his composed innings against Chennai Super Kings during IPL 2025's Match 62 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Rathour described Suryavanshi as an 'impressive batter' and noted that the coaching staff has been closely mentoring him for the past three to four months.

Demonstrating Skill Under Pressure

Despite the coaching team's prior awareness of Suryavanshi's potential, Rathour emphasized the significance of seeing him apply his skills in a high-pressure match. The young player successfully faced some of the league's top bowlers, including Khaleel Ahmed, Noor Ahmad, Anshul Kamboj, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Rathour's Insights Post-Match

"Extremely impressive. We’ve been working with him for a long time now, perhaps three or four months, and we’ve already witnessed these attributes in him. But it’s excellent to witness him performing in a pressure moment in an actual game," Rathour shared during the post-match press conference.

Conditions and Performance

The 56-year-old coach also discussed the challenging conditions at the beginning of the second innings, noting some movement in the air. He remarked that Suryavanshi did not have much strike during the Powerplay but displayed remarkable composure and game awareness throughout.

"In a large game like today, when he came in, the ball was not swinging much. He hardly had to deal with any deliveries early on and did not receive much strike in the Powerplay. But the sort of maturity and temperament he showed was terrific. Such experiences will definitely make him an even better cricketer," Rathour added.

Suryavanshi's Impressive IPL Debut

Suryavanshi has made a significant impact in his debut IPL season, amassing 252 runs in seven matches with an average of 36.00 and an impressive strike rate exceeding 206. His standout moment came with a remarkable 101 runs off just 38 balls against Gujarat Titans, marking the fastest century by an Indian in IPL history.
