Venkatesh Prasad's Unopposed Election as KSCA President

Former Indian fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad is poised to be elected unopposed as the president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in the upcoming elections scheduled for December 7. Election officer Dr. B. Basavaraju, a retired IAS officer, has approved Prasad's nomination after reviewing the submitted papers.

Another candidate, K.N. Shant Kumar, saw his nomination rejected on technical grounds, while Kalpana Venkatachar withdrew from the race for the top position, clearing the path for Prasad's ascension.

A statement from the association confirmed, 'With these developments, Venkatesh Prasad is now set to be elected unopposed as the president.' The scrutiny of nominations was conducted under the supervision of retired High Court Justice Subhash B. Adi.

Other former cricketers, including Sujit Somesundar (Vice President, Secretary) and Avinash Vaidya (Joint Secretary and Managing Committee Member), have also had their nominations approved. Prasad previously served as the vice president during Anil Kumble's tenure as president, while Javagal Srinath held the secretary position. Somesundar recently resigned from his role as head of education at the BCCI Excellence Centre to participate in the state association elections.
