Veer Ganapathy Dominates Day One at IGPL Invitational Ahmedabad
Teenager Veer Ganapathy Takes Commanding Lead
Teenage sensation Veer Ganapathy bounced back from a disappointing performance last week to seize the lead at the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) Invitational in Ahmedabad. He delivered an impressive round of 8-under 64, establishing a three-shot advantage over Mexico's Santiago de la Fuentes, who received a special invitation. Veer, the son of former world number one Rahul Ganapathy, showcased his skills with a flawless round, featuring six birdies and an eagle at Glade One Resort.
After missing the cut at the Bharath Classic, which is part of the Asian Tour and IGPL, Veer focused on refining his game while others competed for larger prizes. "I knew I had the ability, and things just didn’t align at Kensville. This week, I was determined, and everything clicked today. I hope to maintain this momentum," he stated, as reported by an IGPL press release. He started strong with birdies on the second hole, followed by two more on the sixth and eighth, and capped his front nine with an eagle on the Par-4 ninth, finishing at 5-under 31. On the back nine, he added birdies on the 11th and had consecutive gains on the 13th and 14th, although he parred the last four holes. "Overall, it was a satisfying day," he concluded.
