Indian Squash Stars Shine in World Championship Qualifiers

Indian squash athletes Veer Chotrani and Anahat Singh have successfully made their way to the semifinals of the World Championship Qualifying Event (Asia) following impressive victories on Friday.


In the men's category, Chotrani staged a remarkable comeback against local favorite Mohammad Syafiq Kamal. The second-seeded player triumphed with scores of 9-11, 11-6, 11-6, and 11-7, securing his spot in the semifinals.


On the women's side, 17-year-old Anahat, who is seeded fifth, showcased her skills by defeating Japan's Akari Midorikawa decisively with scores of 11-1, 11-7, and 11-5 during the quarterfinals.


Next, Anahat will face eighth-seeded Helen Tang from Hong Kong in the semifinals on Saturday. Tang advanced after overcoming India's Tanvi Khanna with a scoreline of 11-5, 11-6, 10-12, and 11-9 in her quarterfinal match.


Notably, Khanna had previously eliminated the top seed, N Ching Cheng from Hong Kong, in an earlier round.


The champions of this tournament will earn a place in the world championships set to take place in Chicago from May 9 to 17.
