Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 12: The World Padel League (WPL) Season 4 kicked off with thrilling matches as Vedanta Leopards triumphed over Aussie Mavericks Jaguars with a narrow score of 18-16. Meanwhile, Hubtown Panorama Panthers showcased their strength by defeating VB Realty Cheetahs 16-9 on the inaugural day of the tournament.

This season of the World Padel League adopts a round-robin structure, promising a series of competitive matches as teams vie for supremacy. The Jaguars fought valiantly, but the Leopards managed to maintain their composure to clinch the first win of the season.

The opening match featured Alejandra Alonso and Claudia Jensen from the Jaguars competing against Marta Ortega and Veronica Virseda of the Leopards in a gripping women's doubles showdown. Both teams engaged in intense rallies, with the Jaguars narrowly taking the first set 7-5.

The second match introduced the season's first tiebreak, where Ignacio Piotto and Enzo Jensen faced off against the Deus brothers, Miguel and Nuno. The Leopards emerged victorious in this tense battle, winning the tiebreak 7-6. In the final men's doubles, Pol Hernandez and Guille Collado from the Jaguars went up against Fran Guerrero and Javi Ruiz of the Leopards, but the Leopards sealed the match with a 6-3 win, completing their comeback.

In the subsequent match, Hubtown Panorama Panthers delivered a commanding performance against VB Realty Cheetahs, winning 16-9. After dropping the first set 4-6, the Panthers rebounded strongly, winning the next two sets decisively with scores of 6-1 and 6-2.

The opening set featured Juan Tello and Eduardo Alonso of the Panthers battling Lucho Capra and Jesus Moya from the Cheetahs, with the latter taking the set 6-4 after a series of intense exchanges. However, the Panthers quickly turned the tide in the women's doubles, as Marta Caparros and Marta Barrera dominated their opponents, winning 6-1. To conclude the match, Enriquei Goenaga and Rama Valenzuela secured a 6-2 victory over Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz, finalizing the score at 16-9.
