Varanasi Hosts 72nd Senior National Volleyball Championship Under PM Modi's Vision

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], January 9: During the ongoing 72nd Senior National Volleyball Championship, BJP leader Mahendra Nath Pandey highlighted that Varanasi is gaining national and international recognition in various fields, including culture, religion, infrastructure, and sports, all under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The championship, which commenced on January 4, is set to conclude on January 11, featuring over 1,000 athletes from 58 teams representing different States, Union Territories, and Institutional Units across India.
Pandey praised Varanasi for its global stature and extended his best wishes to all teams participating in the event, welcoming them to 'Kashi' (Varanasi).
He stated, “Under PM Modi's leadership, Varanasi is establishing itself as a prominent name in India and worldwide in culture, religion, and infrastructure, and now also in sports. I wish all teams the best and welcome everyone to Kashi.”
The league matches took place from January 4 to January 8, with quarterfinals held on January 8. The quarterfinals are currently underway on January 9, while the semifinals are scheduled for January 10, leading up to the medal matches on January 11.
On January 4, PM Modi inaugurated the National Volleyball Championship through video conferencing, sending his greetings to players nationwide and emphasizing the significance of sports in nation-building.
In his address, PM Modi drew parallels between volleyball and India's development, stressing the importance of teamwork, coordination, and trust.
He remarked that volleyball imparts essential lessons about balance, cooperation, and determination, mirroring India's progress, which is a result of collective effort and collaboration among its citizens.
