Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The Young IPL Sensation Navigating Early Challenges

Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Journey in IPL 2025
At just 14 years old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is still in the early stages of his cricketing journey. Despite his remarkable achievement of scoring a rapid century off 35 balls in the IPL, he is still learning the game, especially when compared to his more seasoned opening partner, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is 23 years old and brings a wealth of experience to the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Following his impressive century, Suryavanshi faced challenges in recent matches, recording a duck in just two balls against the Mumbai Indians (MI) and managing only four runs in two balls against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Vaibhav Suryavanshi's IPL 2025 Performance:
- 34 runs off 20 balls against LSG
- 16 runs off 12 balls against RCB
- 101 runs off 38 balls against GT
- 0 runs off 2 balls against MI
- 4 runs off 2 balls against KKR
From the outset of his IPL career, Suryavanshi has shown a tendency to attack the bowling, reminiscent of players like Sunil Narine, who is known for his batting prowess despite primarily being a bowler. His aggressive style could also align him with big-hitting finishers like Tim David or Andre Russell.

However, Suryavanshi's role as an opener requires a different approach. Unlike players who can afford to score at a slower rate, he is still developing both physically and mentally. At 14, he is navigating the complexities of competing against elite bowlers in a challenging T20 environment.
His playing style often leads to wild shots, and while his power can sometimes bail him out, it is not a sustainable strategy. This is typical of young cricketers, who often rely on sheer force and luck. Suryavanshi is essentially a schoolboy facing off against world-class talent in one of the toughest leagues.
Instead of harsh criticism, he deserves support and encouragement. In a fast-paced world that often rushes to judge, young talents like him require patience and positive reinforcement to thrive.
