Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Stellar Performance

Indian cricket prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been making headlines with his outstanding display in the ongoing U19 five-match ODI series against England. Following his impressive showing in IPL 2025, he has maintained his exceptional form.

In the fourth ODI against England U19, Suryavanshi delivered a phenomenal performance, smashing a record-setting century off just 52 balls and finishing with an impressive 143 runs from 78 balls. His efforts propelled India to a total of 363 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs. This remarkable innings followed a blistering 31-ball 86 in the previous match, contributing to India's victory by four wickets.

Suryavanshi's record-breaking innings played a crucial role in securing a 3-1 lead in the series for Team India, as they triumphed over England by 55 runs after the bowling unit, led by Naman Pushpak, restricted the hosts to 308 runs in 45.3 overs.

Aiming for a Double Century

After his record-setting performance, Suryavanshi expressed his surprise at achieving such a milestone and shared his ambition to score a double century in the series finale. He stated, "I wasn't aware that I had set a record. After reaching 100, our team manager, Ankit sir, informed me of my achievement."

"I will strive to score 200 in the next match and aim to play the entire 50 overs. The more runs I score, the better it is for the team," he added.

Chasing Records

The record for the highest individual score in U19 ODIs for India is held by former player Ambati Rayudu, who scored 177 against England in 2022. The global record is 191, set by Sri Lanka's Hasitha Boyagoda against Kenya in 2018. If Suryavanshi achieves a double century in the final match, he will become the highest individual scorer in U19 ODI history.

Suryavanshi drew inspiration from Shubman Gill's remarkable double century during the senior team's Test match at Edgbaston, where Gill scored 269 runs. Vaibhav noted, "I was motivated by Gill's performance, especially how he continued to push the team forward after reaching his century. I felt I could have batted longer after my hundred."

"There was a shot I didn't execute perfectly, which led to my dismissal. Otherwise, I could have extended my innings like Gill," he concluded.
