Vaibhav SuryaVanshi continued his impressive form for India Under-19 by scoring his maiden century as captain in the third youth ODI against South Africa. He reached the century in just 63 balls, hitting seven fours and eight sixes, showcasing his talent at Willowmoore Park in Benoni. This marks SuryaVanshi's third century in youth ODI cricket and his ninth overall across all formats.
The 14-year-old opened the innings alongside Aaron George, and together they dominated the South African bowlers. They amassed over 200 runs in less than 25 overs, setting India on course for a substantial total. SuryaVanshi played exquisite shots from the start, maintaining his focus throughout. After reaching his century, he accelerated further but was eventually dismissed for 127 runs off 73 balls, which included nine fours and ten sixes. The opening pair contributed 227 runs in just 25.4 overs, with India eager to surpass 350 runs in their 50 overs.
SuryaVanshi's Consistent Performance Across Formats
Since entering the larger cricketing arena, the left-handed batsman has scored centuries in all formats for six different teams. In youth ODIs, he has achieved three centuries, along with two in youth Tests, one in List A, and three in T20 cricket, including a century for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In youth ODIs, he has accumulated 973 runs in just 18 innings at an impressive average of 57.23 and a strike rate of 164.35, featuring three centuries and four half-centuries. With the Under-19 World Cup starting on January 15, SuryaVanshi's outstanding form is a positive sign for India.
