In a thrilling match at Mullanpur on Friday, 15-year-old cricket sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored an impressive 96 runs off 47 balls, helping the Rajasthan Royals recover from a shaky start to post a total of 214/6 in their 20 overs against the Gujarat Titans during the IPL 2026 Qualifier 2.
Sooryavanshi's explosive innings was crucial in lifting the Royals from a precarious position of 13/2, showcasing his talent and resilience. Additionally, Donovan Ferreira contributed significantly with a quick-fire 38 runs off just 11 balls, further bolstering the team's total.
Early Struggles for Rajasthan Royals
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Rajasthan faced immediate challenges as the Gujarat Titans' pace attack struck early. Mohammed Siraj dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal for a mere 1 run in the first over, followed by Kagiso Rabada taking out Dhruv Jurel, leaving the Royals in a dire situation at 13/2 within just two overs.
Sooryavanshi's Counterattack
Sooryavanshi quickly turned the tide by aggressively targeting Siraj, hitting three boundaries in the third over. By the end of the Powerplay, the Royals had recovered to 70/2, thanks to his efforts alongside Ravindra Jadeja, who unfortunately had to retire hurt due to elbow discomfort.

Ferreira's Late-Game Explosion
Donovan Ferreira entered the scene and played a pivotal role in the final overs, scoring 39 runs in the last two overs, including an astonishing 27 runs in the final over against Rashid Khan, which featured four sixes. This explosive finish propelled RR to a formidable total of 214/6.
For the Gujarat Titans, Rabada and Holder were the standout bowlers, each taking two wickets, with figures of 2/35 and 2/27 respectively.
