Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Stellar Performance Leads Rajasthan Royals to Victory
Sooryavanshi's Strategic Approach
In a recent match against the Lucknow Super Giants, Rajasthan Royals' emerging star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shared that his deliberate start was a tactical choice. He relied on his capability to score boundaries and sixes, aiming to pace his innings effectively. This strategy allowed him to secure a rapid fifty while ensuring he could guide his team to victory.
Sooryavanshi's explosive innings of 93 runs, complemented by significant contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, propelled RR to a seven-wicket win in their IPL encounter on Tuesday night in Jaipur.
'I Can Hit Boundaries Anytime'
Post-match, Sooryavanshi explained, "That was the mindset. I know I can hit two or three boundaries or sixes anytime, so I can take a little more time and not rush too much and try to take the game till the end."
He emphasized the importance of pacing his innings, observing the pitch conditions, and supporting his batting partner by staying at the crease longer.
Match-Winning Contributions
Sooryavanshi's remarkable 93 came off just 38 balls, featuring 10 sixes and 7 fours. Jurel also made a notable impact, scoring 53 runs from 38 balls, including 6 sixes and 3 fours.
This victory has elevated RR to the fourth position in the IPL points table, accumulating 14 points.
Sooryavanshi Breaks IPL Record
The young talent has set a new record as the youngest player to achieve 500 runs in a single IPL season, surpassing Rishabh Pant's previous record, which he set at the age of 20 in 2018.
Team Effort Praised by Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal, the stand-in captain for RR, commended the team's collective effort in securing the win. He highlighted the strong bowling displays from Jofra Archer and Brijesh Sharma, along with the impactful batting from Sooryavanshi and Jurel.
Jaiswal remarked, "I think everyone put in the hard yards, and they played really well. Everyone was into the game and working towards it. The way Jofra bowled and the way Brijesh bowled, because we knew the wicket was pretty good and runs were going to come. The way Jofra came back initially in the power play as well, I think it was unbelievable. The way Vaibhav batted and Dhruv batted, I think they killed the game."
