Breaking Sachin Tendulkar's Long-Standing Record
Sooryavanshi has been selected for India's T20I squads for the upcoming tours to Ireland and England, as well as the Asian Games. He has now become the youngest player ever to be included in the Indian national team, surpassing a 36-year-old record previously held by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar made his debut against Pakistan in 1989 at the age of 16, a record that stood for decades.
Record-Breaking Performance for India A
On June 21, Sooryavanshi showcased his talent with an astonishing innings of 94 runs off just 29 balls, achieving the fastest half-century in List A cricket history during the tri-series final between India A and Sri Lanka A at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
The young opener made history by reaching his first fifty in only 11 balls, breaking the previous List A record of a 12-ball half-century set by Sri Lanka's Kaushalya Weeraratne over 20 years ago. This performance adds another highlight to an impressive year for the Bihar-born cricketer, who is quickly becoming one of India's most promising young talents.
Impressive IPL 2026 Season
Sooryavanshi's first national call-up follows an outstanding IPL 2026 season with the Rajasthan Royals, where he scored 776 runs at an incredible strike rate of 237.30. His explosive performance made him the tournament's leading run-scorer, including a record 72 sixes.
The young talent also received several post-season accolades, such as the Orange Cap, Most Valuable Player, Emerging Player, Super Striker, and Super Sixes awards.
With India preparing for T20I series against Ireland and England in the near future, Sooryavanshi's recent record-breaking feats have heightened expectations for one of the most exciting prospects in international cricket.
