Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Rising Star

Bengaluru: The cricketing world is abuzz with the remarkable performances of young Indian batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. However, former South African cricketer Daryll Cullinan has advised the 15-year-old to take his time before stepping onto the international stage.

Cullinan, who has an impressive record of 70 Tests and 138 ODIs, emphasized the importance of enjoying childhood. In his column for a sports publication, he pointed out that modern youth often grapple with immense pressure and the distractions of social media. He offered valuable guidance to Vaibhav.

'Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is showcasing extraordinary talent, performing at a level beyond his years. It's uncommon for such gifted players to gain recognition so early,' Cullinan remarked. He acknowledged that Vaibhav's rise to fame is largely due to Indian cricket and the IPL.

'Cricket has seen many exceptional talents, but young players often receive labels they never sought at a tender age. At just 15, Vaibhav's life is far from that of a typical teenager. We must consider this carefully before it becomes an issue,' Cullinan cautioned.

Focus on Studies and Local Cricket

Cullinan further stated, 'In my opinion, Vaibhav should be at home studying for his exams and enjoying gully cricket with peers. He is still very young, and there is ample time for his growth. While we shouldn't overlook his talent, it's crucial to allow him to develop fully without rushing him into international cricket.'

He drew a comparison to Sachin Tendulkar, who debuted for India at 16 with the right guidance. Today's young athletes, however, face harsh scrutiny on social media, which requires careful management.

Vaibhav's Current Status in the Team

Despite being selected for the Indian team, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has yet to make his debut. The Bihar-born cricketer remained on the bench during the first two T20 matches against Ireland, where India's top-order batsmen Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan struggled to score.

Many anticipated that Vaibhav would finally get his chance in the first T20 against England, but that did not materialize. In that match, Sanju Samson managed only 1 run, while Ishan Kishan was dismissed for a duck. Fans are now eagerly awaiting whether Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will secure a spot in the playing XI for the upcoming second T20.
