Celebrating a Historic Achievement

Dehradun, Uttarakhand - On November 24, Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the Indian boxing team for their outstanding performance at the World Boxing Cup Finals. He described this achievement as a moment of immense pride for the nation. India concluded the tournament with a remarkable haul of 20 medals, which included nine gold, six silver, and five bronze, showcasing one of the country's most successful outings on the international stage.


Commending the boxers for their remarkable success, Dhami noted that they have set a new standard for Indian sports.


He stated, "The extraordinary achievements of our boxers at the World Boxing Cup 2025 represent a proud moment for our country. The talented athletes have significantly enhanced India's standing in the sports arena by winning a total of 20 medals, comprising 9 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze. This success is a testament to their discipline, hard work, and the guidance of exceptional coaches."


The Chief Minister also highlighted the positive influence these athletes will have on future generations of sportspeople.


"Congratulations to all the medalists who have brought renewed energy and inspiration to the national sports scene. This accomplishment will undoubtedly motivate young athletes to aim high and pursue their dreams," he added.


Women Boxers Shine Bright

India's female boxers made a significant impact, with Minakshi (48kg), Preeti (54kg), Arundhati Choudhary (70kg), and Nupur (80+kg) each claiming gold medals. Additionally, Nikhat Zareen (51kg), Jaismine Lamboria (57kg), and Parveen (60kg) also reached the top of the podium. In total, women boxers secured seven gold medals, while Pooja Rani (silver in 80 kg), Neeraj Phogat (bronze in 65 kg), and Saweety Boora (bronze in 75 kg) also contributed to India's medal tally.


On the men's side, Sachin Siwach (gold in 60 kg) and Hitesh Gulia (gold in 70 kg) emerged as champions, bringing home two gold medals. Silver medals were awarded to Jadumani Singh (50 kg), Pawan Bartwal (55 kg), Abhinash Jamwal (65 kg), Ankush Panghal (80 kg), and Narendra Berwal (90+kg). Additionally, Jugnoo (85 kg) and Naveen (90 kg) secured bronze medals for India.
