Urva Chaudhary's Triumph in Shooting

New Delhi [India], May 8: At the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 in Bihar, Urva Chaudhary from Uttar Pradesh secured the gold medal in the 10m air pistol event, marking her second medal at the competition held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range. Earlier, she had partnered with Dev Pratap to earn a silver in the mixed team category.


The 17-year-old athlete dominated the final, achieving a score of 237.7 points, surpassing Vidhi Sharma from Rajasthan, who scored 236.3 points. Kanak from Haryana, also a participant in Khelo India, took home the bronze medal.


Reflecting on her journey, Urva stated, “This is my third Khelo India Youth Games. I have witnessed my growth as a shooter and my scores have improved significantly over the years. This experience has been incredibly rewarding. Khelo India has instilled in me a great deal of confidence and self-esteem. Now, I am focusing on the World Cup in Germany this June,” as per a release.


Maharashtra achieved a remarkable feat by winning gold medals in both the boys' and girls' 50m Rifle 3 Positions events. Vedant Waghmare, a Khelo India athlete, claimed victory in the boys' category, marking his first medal in three editions of the games. Earlier, Prachi Gaikwad had secured gold in the girls' event.


Vedant expressed his joy at reaching the podium this time, saying, “In the previous two editions, I placed fifth and seventh. I worked hard and believed that a medal was within reach, and it finally happened.” The 18-year-old scored 452.5 points, finishing ahead of Rohit Kanyan from Haryana and Amitoj Singh from Punjab.


Madhya Pradesh also made its mark by winning two gold medals in the shotgun events. In the girls' final, Poonam Raghuwanshi narrowly defeated Tanisska Senthilkumar from Tamil Nadu with a score of 39-38. In the boys' final, Syed Ahyaan Ali scored 41 points, leaving Udhav Singh Rathore from Rajasthan behind to clinch gold.
