Upcoming Hockey India Junior Men Academy Championship 2025 Set to Showcase Young Talent
Championship Overview
The 3rd Hockey India Junior Men Academy Championship 2025 for Zones A and B is scheduled to take place at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University in Surat from December 23 to December 30. This event aims to gather some of the brightest young talents from various hockey academies across the nation.
Tournament Structure and Teams
This championship will include 14 teams organized into four distinct pools:
- Pool A: Roundglass Punjab Hockey Club Academy, Cheema Hockey Academy, Army Boys Sports Company
- Pool B: Namdhari Sports Academy, Ritu Rani Hockey Academy, Giants Sports Academy
- Pool C: S.G.P.C. Hockey Academy, Ashwini Sports Academy, Hockey Family Badhkhalsa NCR Hockey Society, Sports Authority of Gujarat - Hockey Academy
- Pool D: Ghumanhera Riser's Academy, Bhai Behlo Hockey Academy Bhagta, Raja Karan Hockey Academy, Pritam Siwach Sports Promotion Foundation
Teams will compete in a round-robin format within their pools. Points will be awarded as follows: 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and none for a loss. The top team from each pool will advance to the Semi-Finals on December 29, followed by the 3rd/4th place match and the Final on December 30.
Youth Development Focus
Dilip Tirkey, President of Hockey India, emphasized the importance of this tournament in nurturing young talent. He stated, "This is a crucial event in our youth development initiative. Such competitions provide young athletes with essential match experience and insight into the competitive nature of hockey at an early stage. I wish all participating academies and players the best of luck."
Similarly, Bhola Nath Singh, Secretary General of Hockey India, remarked, "This championship underscores our commitment to enhancing the academy and grassroots framework in the country. It offers young players a chance to showcase their skills against peers from across India. I hope they learn and develop significantly through this tournament."
