Unnati Hooda and Tanvi Sharma Shine at Senior National Badminton Championships
Exciting Matches at the 87th Senior National Badminton Championships
Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], December 24: The 87th Senior National Badminton Championships witnessed impressive performances from top players on Wednesday. Leading the charge was Unnati Hooda, the top seed, alongside world junior championships silver medalist Tanvi Sharma, seasoned player Aakarshi Kashyap, and promising junior talent Rounak Chauhan, all of whom secured their spots in the next round.
Unnati, who received a bye in the initial round, showcased her skills by defeating wildcard competitor Akanksha Matte with a score of 21-8, 21-18. Meanwhile, Tanvi kicked off her tournament with a solid victory over Asian U-15 girls singles gold medalist Shaina Manimuthu, winning 21-10, 21-14, as reported by the Badminton Association of India (BAI).
Also moving forward was Aakarshi, who triumphed over Asian U-17 championships silver medalist Lakshya Rajesh with a score of 21-7, 21-9. Ashmita Chaliha also advanced, defeating Kavya Marvaniya 21-7, 21-11.
In a surprising turn, 16th seed Purva Barve was eliminated after a close match, losing 21-19, 17-21, 18-21 to M Meghana Reddy in the round of 64.
In the men's singles category, 11th seed Chauhan secured a convincing win against Ranveer Singh, finishing 21-9, 21-13. Additionally, 12th seed D S Saneeth overcame Ankit Mondal with a score of 21-7, 21-11, both advancing to the next stage.
16th seed Sanskar Saraswat, who recently won the Guwahati Masters Super 100, also started his campaign strongly, defeating Shikhar Rallan 21-11, 21-13.
