Unique Banarasi Sarees Crafted for Indian Cricket Team Players
Special Banarasi Sarees for Cricket Stars
Artisans in Varanasi have created 15 exclusive Banarasi sarees inspired by cricket, intended as gifts for the Indian cricket team players following the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final.
According to Sarvesh Srivastava, the secretary of Laghu Udyog Bharati Kashi province, these sarees feature intricate designs showcasing all the World Cup trophies that India has secured, along with the years they were won.
He mentioned that the design for this year's T20 World Cup trophy has also been integrated into the sarees.
The sarees are adorned with cricket-themed motifs, including bats and balls, while maintaining the traditional Banarasi weaving style.
Each saree is individually packaged in decorative boxes, with photographs of married players alongside their spouses included, while unmarried players receive their own individual photos.
The production cost for each saree ranges from Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000, with artisans dedicating approximately one and a half months to complete each piece.
Srivastava emphasized that this initiative aims to uplift the spirits of the Indian cricket team and promote the exquisite craftsmanship of Banarasi sarees both nationally and internationally.
In a show of support, prayers were held for the Indian team's success at the Ganga Dwar of the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham on Thursday morning.
The T20 World Cup final is set to take place between India and New Zealand in Ahmedabad this Sunday.
