Tushar Pannu Leads PGTI NEXGEN Event with Stellar Performance

Day One Highlights from the PGTI NEXGEN Tournament

On June 17, in Ludhiana, Punjab, Tushar Pannu, a promising rookie from Karnal, set an impressive score of five-under 31 during the opening day of the fifth event in the PGTI NEXGEN season at The Imperial Golf Estate. The 21-year-old golfer is currently leading the tournament by a single stroke.

Following closely is Kushal Singh from Gurugram, who finished the first round with a score of four-under 32.

The Imperial Golf Estate features a par-72 nine-hole layout, where players complete two rounds of the nine holes. However, due to rain delays on Tuesday, the first round was shortened to just nine holes, with a par of 36 for that round.

Pannu's exceptional putting skills were on full display, as he completed the day without any errors. He achieved an eagle on the sixth hole and added three birdies, all from distances between 12 to 15 feet. Notably, he made a crucial par-save on the fourth hole after a less-than-ideal tee shot.

Expressing his satisfaction, Tushar remarked, “When playing just nine holes, the goal is to maintain a steady performance and stay under par. I aimed for two-under today, so I’m delighted to have surpassed my expectations. My putting was exceptional, as I made several long putts.”

He also mentioned, “This year has been a solid start to my professional journey, with several top-20 finishes on the PGTI's main tour, which has boosted my confidence heading into this NEXGEN event.”

Kushal Singh also had a strong showing, finishing his round without any bogeys and closely trailing the leader.

In a tie for third place are Rohit Narwal from Karnal, Abhishek Kumar from Panchkula, and Vasu Sehgal from Chandigarh, all scoring three-under 33.
