Defending Champions Ready for CPL 2026

The Trinbago Knight Riders are set to kick off the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 season as the reigning champions, eager to defend their title. Their squad is a mix of experienced players and emerging talents, strategically assembled to make a significant impact in the tournament.

Dynamic Batting Lineup

Under the leadership of Nicholas Pooran, who celebrated his first championship win as captain last season, the batting lineup is both thrilling and robust. Key players include openers Alex Hales and Colin Munro, along with wicketkeeper-batter Joshua Da Silva, Matthew Breetzke, and promising talents Jyd Goolie and Dexter Sween. This combination of aggressive and seasoned batsmen aims to set a strong foundation for the team's innings.

Formidable Bowling Unit

The bowling department remains a cornerstone of the Knight Riders' strategy. Akeal Hosein, who shone in last year's final with a Player of the Match performance, returns with confidence. He is supported by Terrance Hinds, Abdul-Raheem Toppin, and Usman Tariq, creating a diverse bowling attack that excels in controlling the game during the middle overs.

Veteran All-Rounders Enhance Team Depth

Sunil Narine and Kieron Pollard bring invaluable experience to the all-rounder positions. Narine is crucial for his bowling control and batting prowess, while Pollard, recognized as one of the top match-winners in T20 cricket, aims to build on his previous season's success, where he was named Player of the Tournament. The squad also includes Amshi de Silva, Dominic Drakes, Nathan Edward, and Justin Greaves, ensuring comprehensive coverage across all roles.

The Knight Riders will commence their CPL 2026 journey against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on August 9 at Arnos Vale Stadium in St Vincent, marking the venue's inaugural CPL match.
