Trent Boult's Comical Dismissal in MLC 2025

In a surprising turn of events, Trent Boult was run out in an unusual fashion during MI New York's opening match in the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 against Texas Super Kings on June 13 at the Oakland Coliseum in California.

This incident unfolded in the 19th over of MI New York's innings. Tajinder Dhillon hit a length delivery from Adam Milne towards third man, successfully running for a single and attempting a second.

However, as Boult approached the crease, he dropped his bat and began hopping instead of grounding it, ultimately falling in the process. He was unable to reach the crease in time, resulting in a rather humorous run-out.

Texas Super Kings Secure a Tight Victory

Earlier in the match, Texas Super Kings batted first, scoring 185/6. Devon Conway was a standout performer, scoring 65 runs off 44 balls, while Calvin Savage contributed an impressive 53 runs off 34 deliveries.

For MI New York, Michael Bracewell took two wickets, with Ehsan Adil, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Sunny Patel each claiming one wicket.

During the chase, Monak Patel led the scoring for MI New York with 62 runs from 44 balls. Bracewell added 38 runs off 21 balls, and Kieron Pollard chipped in with 32 runs off just 16 balls. Despite their efforts, the team fell short by 3 runs, largely due to Daryl Mitchell's exceptional final over, which only allowed 5 runs.

Faf du Plessis also made a significant impact with a spectacular catch of Bracewell, who was well-set and could have changed the game's outcome.

Following this match, Texas Super Kings moved up to second place in the points table, while MI New York is currently in fifth. Both teams are set to play their next matches on Monday, June 16.
