Karnataka Home Minister Addresses the Incident

Karnataka's Home Minister, G. Parameshwara, stated that both the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) were eager to host the event, and the government extended its support. This announcement came amidst public outrage following a stampede on Wednesday that resulted in the deaths of eleven individuals and left 47 others injured. Parameshwara informed the media, "The Chief Minister has already announced that a magistrate's inquiry will be conducted into this incident. RCB and the cricket association (KSCA) wanted this event, and we agreed to assist them."

Governor Calls for Investigation into the Tragedy

On the same day, Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot urged the state government to thoroughly investigate the lapses that led to the tragic incident outside Chinnaswamy Stadium during the RCB victory celebration. He also requested that the government ensure appropriate compensation and support for the families of the deceased. The celebration of RCB's first IPL victory turned somber as thousands of fans gathered outside the stadium to catch a glimpse of their team, leading to the stampede.

Chaos Erupts as Fans Gather

Following the stampede near Chinnaswamy Stadium, the area was littered with shoes, sportswear, and personal belongings. The chaos resulted in the deaths of 11 individuals and injuries to 33 others. As the atmosphere of celebration began for RCB's inaugural IPL title win, a massive crowd of young men and women congregated outside the stadium. Many fans climbed large trees, clung to poles, and even scaled tall walls to catch a glimpse of their stars. The excitement escalated, and soon the crowd became uncontrollable, leading to a stampede. Shouts and cries filled the air, and before anyone could react, people began to fall and lose consciousness, necessitating immediate transport to nearby hospitals.
