Tim Southee's New Role

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has officially announced the hiring of former New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee as a specialist skills consultant for the England men's cricket teams on a temporary basis. In a statement released on Thursday, the ECB confirmed, “Tim Southee, the former New Zealand international, has joined us as a specialist skills consultant for the England men's teams for a short-term engagement.”



Southee's Initial Task


At 36 years old, Southee, who concluded his international career in December as New Zealand's leading wicket-taker, will assist England's teams across all formats until the end of the Test series against India, which is set to begin on June 20 at Headingley.


His extensive experience in various playing conditions globally and across all formats will provide invaluable insights to the players.


After his consultancy role, he will return to playing in The Hundred for Birmingham Phoenix. Southee is expected to join the squad ahead of England's first match of the international summer, a one-off Test against Zimbabwe, starting next Thursday at Trent Bridge.
