While the Indian cricket team, led by Shubman Gill, is currently engaged in a five-match Test series in England, batsman Tilak Varma is also in the country, participating in the County Championship. This season, he is representing Hampshire.

In his debut match for Hampshire, Tilak Varma showcased his talent by scoring a century against Essex. Coming in to bat at number four, he faced a challenging situation as his team lost two wickets for just 34 runs. Known for his aggressive batting style, Varma displayed remarkable patience during this innings.

Tilak completed his century in 239 balls, ultimately facing 241 deliveries before being dismissed for 100 runs. His innings included 3 sixes and 11 fours, and he batted for an impressive 311 minutes. Alongside Brian Brown, he formed a crucial partnership, adding 133 runs for the fifth wicket, which helped stabilize the team's innings.

This marks Tilak Varma's first appearance in the County Championship, and he made history by scoring his maiden first-class century on English soil while playing for Hampshire.
