Tiann Castellino Claims U-15 Title in Thrilling Final
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], December 22: In a stunning display of skill and resilience, third seed Tiann Castellino overcame top seed Anvisha Ghorpade to win the Girls U-15 singles championship at the Gautam Thakkar Memorial Junior State Badminton Championships held at the Bombay Gymkhana on Sunday.
The match attracted a notable audience, including friends of the late Gauram Thakkar, such as Sunil Gavaskar, Shyam Bhatia, Khalid Ansari, and Aparna Popat. The event was organized by Badminton Gurukul.
After a challenging start where she lost the first game 17-2, Tiann rallied back in the second game. Anvisha attempted to secure her victory, but Tiann's determination shone through as she clinched the second game 22-20 after a series of intense rallies. She then dominated the final game, winning 21-14, resulting in a match score of 17-21, 22-20, 21-14.
In the Boys U-15 category, top seed Aditya Padwal faced a tough challenge from Chandranshu Gundle, dropping the second game but ultimately winning the match 21-17, 15-21, 21-15. Padwal also achieved a remarkable double by teaming up with Gundle to defeat Sairaj Samant and Sumedh Surve with a score of 16-21, 21-10, 21-12.
Additionally, the Girls U-13 final saw an upset as second seed Riddhi Khopkar triumphed over top seed Spruha Joshi with scores of 21-15, 12-21, 22-20.

BD U15: Aditya Padwal/Chandranshu Gundle (1) won against Sairaj Samant/Sumedh Surve 16-21, 21-10, 21-12.
GS U11: Priya Amburle (1) beat Khrisha Goyal 21-12, 21-19; U13: Riddhi Khopkar (2) defeated Spruha Joshi (1) 21-15, 12-21, 22-20; U15: Tiann Castellino (3) triumphed over Anvisha Ghorpade (1) 17-21, 22-20, 21-14.
