Exciting Matches at the Quarter-Finals
The quarter-finals of the 15th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2025 took place at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi, Jharkhand, on July 11, showcasing thrilling performances.
Four teams—Hockey Haryana, Hockey Association of Odisha, Hockey Mizoram, and Hockey Jharkhand—secured their places in the Semi-Finals after impressive displays, as reported by Hockey India.
In the opening match, Hockey Haryana narrowly defeated Uttar Pradesh Hockey 1-0. The only goal came from Manjinder in the 9th minute. Despite Uttar Pradesh's attempts, including seven penalty corners, they could not equalize due to Haryana's strong defense.
The second match featured Hockey Association of Odisha, who dominated Hockey Association of Bihar with a 5-0 victory. Ashika Samad initiated the scoring with a penalty corner in the 10th minute, followed by field goals from Priyanka Minz (14') and Eleena Burh (26'). The second half saw Gita Lakra (33') score another penalty corner, and Sweety Kujur (37') added a field goal to complete the rout.
In the third quarter-final, Hockey Mizoram triumphed over Hockey Punjab with a convincing 4-0 scoreline. Captain Vanlalrinhlui shone with two goals (19', 47'), while Lalruatsiami C (41') and Lalvenpuii (57') contributed to the victory.
The final quarter-final was a nail-biter, ending in a 1-1 draw between Hockey Jharkhand and Hockey Madhya Pradesh. Nousheen Naz (33') scored for Madhya Pradesh, but Sugan Sanga (44') equalized for Jharkhand with a penalty corner. The match proceeded to a shootout, where Jharkhand triumphed 5-4, with successful attempts from Ankita Lakra, Shruti Kumari, Sugan Sanga, Pushpa Manjhi, and Sewani Kerketta. Madhya Pradesh managed four conversions, but a missed attempt by Tanvi proved detrimental.
As a result, Hockey Haryana, Hockey Association of Odisha, Hockey Mizoram, and Hockey Jharkhand will advance to the Semi-Finals, set for July 12. Haryana will face Odisha, while Mizoram will compete against Jharkhand.
