Exciting Start to the Indian Open Jumps Competition

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], March 14: The inaugural day of the Fifth Indian Open Jumps Competition at the Anju Bobby George Foundation Campus witnessed a fierce contest in the men's triple jump event between Abdulla Aboobacker and Praveen Chithravel.


Aboobacker emerged victorious in a thrilling showdown, showcasing his skills as he secured the gold medal with a remarkable jump of 16.83m on his third attempt. His initial jump measured 16.05m, followed by a second attempt of 16.57m, after which he opted not to take any further jumps.


Chithravel claimed the silver medal with a commendable jump of 16.78m during this season's opening event. Meanwhile, in the men's high jump, Sarvesh Anil Kushare from the army dominated the competition, clearing a height of 2.16m on his third try to clinch the gold, although he was unable to surpass 2.19m.


The men's pole vault event was equally gripping, featuring training partners Dev Meena and Kuldeep Kumar, who aimed to break the national record of 5.40m set by Meena last year. Both athletes managed to clear 5.25m but fell short of the record, with Meena taking the day's honors for being the first to clear that height.
