To date, 88 batsmen have been dismissed on 99 runs in Test matches. The latest addition to this list occurred during the India vs England Test in 2025 at Leeds, where Harry Brook was bowled out for 99. He was caught by Shardul Thakur off the bowling of Prasidh Krishna, falling just short of what would have been a remarkable century. The crowd and the dressing room were left in shock after Brook's dismissal.

Moving further along, 12 players have been dismissed on 199 in Tests. These batsmen were tantalizingly close to achieving a double hundred but fell short by the narrowest of margins. The experience of losing focus or being dismissed by an exceptional delivery at 199 is something only a select few have encountered.

However, the most elusive score of all is 299. Only one batsman in the history of Test cricket has been dismissed at that score: Sir Don Bradman, who fell just one run short of a triple century against South Africa in 1932. His dismissal remains legendary.
