Srishti Kiran: India's Rising Tennis Star Claims World No. 1 U13 Ranking
Srishti Kiran Achieves Historic Ranking
Tennis enjoys significant popularity in India, yet the nation has struggled to produce top-ranked singles players. The highest achievement came in 1980 when Vijay Amritraj reached the 18th position. Since then, India has faced challenges in nurturing players who can consistently rank among the best. However, there is a reason for celebration as Srishti Kiran has emerged as the top-ranked player in the U13 category. Over the past few months, Srishti has excelled, securing five ITF junior titles and finishing as the runner-up at the World Tennis Tour Juniors J100 event in Guatemala last week. She has also achieved a career-high ITF junior ranking of No. 357, making her the highest-ranked U13 player globally.
"Iโm thrilled to be recognized as World No. 1 in my age group. This was not something I anticipated at the beginning of the year, but the dedication from my coaches, family, and support team is truly paying off," Srishti expressed in a statement. "The past few weeks have been remarkable. Winning five consecutive titles and reaching another final has boosted my confidence. However, I am aware that there is still much to improve in my game," she added.
Despite participating in fewer tournaments than her peers, Srishti has reached this pinnacle. The ITF junior rankings are based on a maximum of 10 events, yet she competed in only eight, missing a few due to financial and logistical challenges.
