TPL's 'Race to Gold Masters' Kicks Off in Ahmedabad

The Tennis Premier League (TPL) Race to Gold Masters initiative commenced in Ahmedabad on Saturday, following a successful event in Delhi. This tournament, organized in collaboration with the Gujarat State Tennis Association, is set to take place at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium on November 22 and 23.

The Race to Gold Masters is integral to TPL's mission of identifying and nurturing India's upcoming tennis talents, providing them with a platform to demonstrate their abilities through a distinctive 25-point format, as stated in a TPL release.

This tournament paves the way for young players in categories such as U10, U12, U14, and Men's and Women's Open, aimed at enhancing India's domestic tennis framework by offering emerging athletes essential exposure to competitive and international standards.

Nurturing Talent with Scholarships and Mentorship

This segment features 160 players from regions including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Bhavnagar, and Bharuch, with 40 participants from each area competing across all categories. Winners in the eight categories will be awarded scholarships of Rs 75,000 each and will have the chance to meet tennis legends like Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna, along with other top international players participating in TPL's seventh season.

Co-founders on Ahmedabad's Sporting Vision

Kunal Thakkur, co-founder, expressed excitement about bringing the Race to Gold Gujarat Masters to Ahmedabad, stating, "This city is pivotal to India's sporting evolution, especially with the upcoming 2030 Commonwealth Games and the bid for the 2036 Olympics. It’s an ideal location for this initiative. Inspired by our Olympic aspirations, Race to Gold signifies our dedication to developing players capable of winning Olympic medals in tennis. This event will also set the stage for Season 7 of the league, which will return to this venue next month."

Mrunal Jain, another co-founder, echoed these thoughts, saying, "Hosting the TPL here is particularly meaningful for me as an Ahmedabadi. The seventh season promises to be a tremendous success, featuring top players and an atmosphere that celebrates the growth of tennis in India. The league has evolved into a platform for emerging talent, international stars, and enthusiastic fans, and this season will further enhance that legacy."

GSTA Welcomes TPL's Initiative

Krisna Zaveri, President of GSTA, remarked, "Hosting a tournament like the Tennis Premier League is a fantastic opportunity for us, as it gathers some of the most prominent names in Indian and international tennis. Such events not only inspire young athletes but also promote the sport's growth across the state. This aligns perfectly with our goal of creating a more robust and inclusive tennis ecosystem. TPL will significantly contribute to elevating Gujarat's tennis landscape and motivating future athletes."

TPL Season 7 Set for Ahmedabad Debut

The Tennis Premier League will return to Ahmedabad for its seventh season, marking a significant milestone as it expands beyond Maharashtra for the first time since its inception.

This season will also feature players ranked in the Top 50 on the international circuit, offering Gujarat's tennis enthusiasts a chance to experience world-class tennis at the stadium.
