Excitement Builds for TPL Season 7

Ahmedabad, Dec 8: With just one day left until the much-anticipated Tennis Premier League (TPL) Season 7, scheduled from December 9-14 at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium, the eight competing teams are gearing up for a fierce battle for the coveted title.

Featuring tennis legends such as Leander Paes, Sania Mirza, and Mahesh Bhupathi, this season promises an exhilarating week of tennis, showcasing TPL's unique and dynamic format as franchises vie for victory.

From December 9-13, each team will engage in five league matches, with the top four teams progressing to the semi-finals and finals on December 14. The TPL format includes four match rounds - Women’s Singles, Mixed Doubles, Men’s Singles, and Men’s Doubles - each contributing 25 points, culminating in a total of 100 points per match.

This season boasts an impressive lineup of international players ranked within the top 50 globally, alongside India's finest talent, with each franchise featuring a marquee player to spearhead their efforts.

The SG Pipers will be captained by Rohan Bopanna, a two-time Grand Slam champion from India, alongside Shrivalli Bhamidipaty, the country's No.2 women's singles player, and Ramkumar Ramnathan.

Rajasthan Rangers will rely on Italy's World No. 26, Luciano Darderi, along with Russia’s Anastasia Gasanova and Dhakshineswar Suresh. The Gurgaon Grand Slammers will look to Britain's Daniel Evans, who achieved a career-high ranking of No. 21 in 2023, teaming up with India’s top female singles player, Sahaja Yamalapalli, and Sriram Balaji. The Gujarat Panthers will be led by France’s World No. 42, Alexandre Muller, supported by Italy’s Nuria Brancaccio and India’s Anirudh Chandrasekhar.

The defending champions, Hyderabad Strikers, are aiming for a repeat victory, led by Spain’s Pedro Martinez, currently ranked No. 93, alongside fellow Spaniard Carole Monnet and Indian doubles veteran Vishnu Vardhan.

Yash Mumbai Eagles will feature Bosnia’s former World No. 23, Damir Dzhumhur, along with Burundi’s Sada Nahimana and Indian player Niki Poonacha. GS Delhi Aces will showcase Britain’s No. 4 ranked player, Billy Harris, 20-year-old Belgian Sofia Costoulas, and Indian left-hander Jeevan Nedunchezchiyan. The Chennai Smashers will depend on Czech talent Dalibor Svrcina, Romania’s Irina Bara, and India’s doubles specialist Rithvik Bollipalli.

As teams finalize their strategies and build momentum, Season 7 is shaping up to be the most thrilling yet. Fans can catch the live action on JioStar and Sony Sports, marking it as the only sports league in the country available on both platforms.
