Bavuma's Historic Performance

In a remarkable achievement, Temba Bavuma, the captain of South Africa, made history during the World Test Championship final. He scored 36 runs in the first innings against Australia, matching a record held by Rohit Sharma.

Bavuma was dismissed after facing 84 balls, hitting 4 boundaries and a six. He formed a crucial partnership of 64 runs for the fifth wicket with David Bedingham.

With his six, Bavuma equaled Rohit's record, becoming only the second captain to hit a six in a World Test Championship final, following Rohit Sharma.

Rohit had previously achieved this feat in 2023 against Australia in the final, but he has since retired from Test cricket.

Despite Bavuma's commendable innings, he could not convert it into a larger score. Following his dismissal, the South African team collapsed dramatically.

South Africa was all out for just 138 runs in their first innings, while Australia's captain Pat Cummins took 6 wickets, giving Australia a lead of 74 runs after they scored 212 in their first innings.
