Review Meeting for Khelo India Youth Games 2026

On Tuesday, Telangana's Chief Minister Revanth Reddy conducted a review of the preparations for the Khelo India Youth Games 2026 at the Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Institute of Telangana (MCRHRD). Key participants included Minister Vakiti Srihari, Government Advisor Ramakrishna Rao, Chairman of the Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG) Shivasena Reddy, Special Chief Secretary for Sports Jayesh Ranjan, and SATG Managing Director Sony Bala Devi.

Khelo India Youth Games 2026 Overview

Telangana is set to host the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) in 2026, with the eighth edition scheduled for November this year. This will mark the second time in three years that a southern Indian state has hosted the KIYG, following Tamil Nadu's hosting of the 2024 edition and Bihar's hosting of the last edition in May 2025.

Recap of Previous KIYG Editions

In the 2025 Khelo India Youth Games, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Rajasthan secured the top three positions, while the host state Bihar finished 15th and Telangana placed 13th in the medal tally. During the 2024 edition, Tamil Nadu, as the host, came in second after Maharashtra, with Telangana finishing in sixth place.

The Bihar edition featured 28 sports, awarding medals in 27 of them, and introduced e-sports as a demonstration event. A total of 26 records were established during KIYG 2025, including 13 national youth records in weightlifting and additional meet records in athletics.
