Tatjana Maria's Remarkable Victory

German tennis player Tatjana Maria has declared herself the “Queen of Queen’s” following her triumph at the Wimbledon warm-up event held at the Queen’s Club, marking the most significant achievement of her career.

The 37-year-old, who is a mother of two, secured her first WTA 500 title with a straight-sets win of 6-3, 6-4 against eighth seed Amanda Anisimova in the final played on grass in London.

Maria, currently ranked 86th in the world, celebrated her victory in the presence of her daughters, Charlotte and Cecilia, along with her husband and coach, Charles-Edouard Maria.

Expressing her joy, Maria stated, “This victory means a lot to me. I serve as a testament that one can still achieve great success at my age. I am incredibly proud of my accomplishment.”

Throughout her journey to clinch her fourth WTA title, she defeated four players ranked in the top 20, including notable names like Karolina Muchova, Elena Rybakina, and Madison Keys. This victory makes her the oldest singles champion on the WTA Tour since Serena Williams won the Auckland Classic at 38 in 2020.

Maria had previously claimed WTA titles on grass in Mallorca in 2018 and twice on clay in Bogota in 2022 and 2023.

As a former semifinalist at Wimbledon, Maria is set to rise to No. 43 in the world rankings come Monday.
