Strong Performances by Indian Players

Orleans [France], March 19: Tanvi Sharma from India, along with the men's doubles pair of Hariharan Amsakarunan and MR Arjun, showcased impressive skills to progress further in the Orleans Masters 2026 on the second day of the tournament.

As reported by the tournament organizers, Tanvi, who previously earned a silver medal at the World Junior Championships, achieved a significant victory against Thailand's second seed, Supanida Katethong, on the opening day. She then faced fellow Indian player Anmol Kharb in the Round of 16, winning decisively in straight games with scores of 21-14 and 21-17.

In the men's doubles category, the duo of Hariharan and Arjun triumphed over Scotland's Alexander Dunn and Adam Pringle. They fought hard in the first game, edging it 26-24, before taking control in the second game to win 21-14, completing the match in just 35 minutes and securing a spot in the quarterfinals.

On a less fortunate note, former World No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth faced an early exit, losing in the first round to Denmark's Magnus Johannesen. Despite starting strong with a 5-2 lead in the first game, Srikanth was unable to maintain momentum, ultimately losing 21-12 in the first game and 21-10 in the second, concluding his match in 26 minutes.

Despite Srikanth's departure, other Indian players continued to shine, with Ayush Shetty overcoming compatriot Kiran George in a thrilling three-game match. After losing the first game 17-21, Shetty rallied back to win the next two games 21-10 and 21-17, advancing to the second round.
