The proposal aims to utilize the top two floors of the car park, marking out space for as many as eight pickleball courts. To ensure safety, the design includes robust curtain barriers around the courts to prevent any equipment from falling onto the streets below. The addition of lighting will facilitate evening games, while seating and canopies are planned to enhance the experience for both players and spectators. The council's planning application emphasizes the vision of creating a 'sport and community destination' in the town center. While the fifth level is earmarked for pickleball, the fourth level may host community events, cultural activities, or other leisure pursuits.

This proposal follows similar initiatives in Swindon, such as converting parts of Brunel West into a filming site and transforming Whalebridge Car Park into a roller-skating venue. These efforts reflect a broader strategy to revitalize neglected infrastructure throughout the town.
