Suryakumar Yadav Welcomes Baby Girl Amid IPL 2026 Campaign: What’s Next for the Star Batter?
A Joyous Addition to the Yadav Family
Mumbai: Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of India's T20 cricket team, and his wife Devisha Shetty have joyfully welcomed their first child, a daughter, on Thursday. The couple, who married in 2016, had previously celebrated their baby shower in March surrounded by close friends and family.
This personal milestone arrives during a pivotal moment in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, with Suryakumar currently playing for the Mumbai Indians as they strive for a playoff position.
The 35-year-old cricketer took to Instagram to share the happy news, writing, “With giggles, bows, and dreams to unfurl- we welcome our baby girl.”

Reports indicate that Suryakumar chose not to travel with the Mumbai Indians to Raipur earlier this week, opting to stay with his family ahead of the child's birth.
Throughout Suryakumar's cricketing career, Devisha has been a steadfast supporter, accompanying him from his early domestic matches to his rise as one of India's top T20 players and his recent role as captain, leading the team to a historic T20 World Cup victory earlier this year.
The couple enjoys a significant following on social media, with Devisha often seen with Suryakumar during international tours and IPL events. However, the timing of their daughter's birth raises questions about Suryakumar's availability for the upcoming match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 10.
The Mumbai Indians have not yet confirmed when Suryakumar will rejoin the team for this crucial game. He had previously captained the Mumbai Indians in their last match against the Lucknow Super Giants, stepping in for regular captain Hardik Pandya, who was sidelined due to a back issue.
Under Suryakumar's leadership, the team successfully chased down a target of 229 runs, thanks to stellar performances from Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton.
With Hardik still recuperating and Suryakumar currently focused on family matters, pacer Jasprit Bumrah may step in as a temporary captain if necessary for the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
