Suryakumar Yadav Achieves Milestone for MI

In a remarkable achievement, Suryakumar Yadav has overtaken Kieron Pollard to become the second-highest run-scorer for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

During the IPL 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Suryakumar scored 21 runs off just 12 balls. He now trails only MI's iconic player Rohit Sharma, who leads with 6,286 runs in 236 innings. Suryakumar has accumulated a total of 3,933 runs in 121 innings, maintaining an average of 37.10.

CSK Limits MI to 159 Runs

In the match on Saturday, CSK successfully restricted MI to a total of 159 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Opting to bat first, MI faced a challenging start against CSK. The opening batsmen struggled as CSK's bowlers maintained tight control during the powerplay. Mukesh Choudhary and Anshul Kamboj excelled in the initial overs, with Kamboj dismissing Will Jacks, who managed only 1 run off 5 balls, putting MI under pressure early on.

Ryan Rickelton provided a much-needed boost with a quickfire 37 runs off 24 balls, hitting five sixes and helping MI score 57 runs in the powerplay.

The partnership between Rickelton and Naman Dhir was crucial, as they built a solid 50-run stand for the second wicket. Dhir received a lifeline on 19 runs in the 7th over but lost Rickelton shortly after, bringing Suryakumar to the crease.

Dhir played a vital role in stabilizing the innings, while Yadav started well but was dismissed by Ramakrishna Ghosh for 21 runs in the 11th over, allowing Tilak Varma to join Dhir.

Varma played a supporting role as Dhir anchored the innings, with MI at 106 for 3 after 12 overs, maintaining a healthy run rate of over 8 runs per over.

However, Noor Ahmad dismissed Varma for 5 runs in the next over, and Hardik Pandya came in to bat. MI's momentum faltered as Jamie Overton took Dhir's wicket for a well-played 57 runs, followed by Robin Minz, who was out for 5 runs.

In the final five overs, MI struggled, managing only 39 runs and finishing their innings at 159 for 7. Kamboj was the standout bowler for CSK, taking three wickets, while Ahmad secured two, and both Ghosh and Overton contributed with one wicket each.
