Surya Sethupathi's Journey into Acting

Surya Sethupathi, the son of renowned Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi, is preparing to make his acting debut in the action drama 'Phoenix,' directed by Anl Arasu, a filmmaker with a background in stunt choreography. Even before the film's release, Surya is confronting the industry's often negative perception of being labeled a 'nepo kid.'

In a candid interview with a media outlet, Surya tackled this label with impressive maturity. He stated, 'Being called a nepo kid isn't a bad thing. It simply indicates that your father has a legacy. You're embarking on a new journey. However, as a nepo kid, you must exert more effort than your father did. There are hurdles to overcome, and those challenges will provide valuable lessons.'

Surya also highlighted his humble beginnings, noting, 'I have faced many challenges since childhood to reach this point.' He shared that his father provides him with a daily allowance of 500 rupees, emphasizing that this upbringing has shaped his determination to succeed in the film industry.

Phoenix features a talented cast including Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Devadarshini, J. Vignesh, Sampath Raj, and Sreejith Ravi, with cinematography by Velraj and a score by Sam CS.

A review from ETimes praises 'Phoenix' for its technical prowess, stating, 'The film's technical quality significantly enhances the narrative. Velraj's cinematography vividly portrays the intense violence, while Sam CS's music complements the film's dynamic energy. The high production values ensure that this debut project is well-crafted. Although it effectively showcases the young lead's action potential, the film feels somewhat lacking in depth despite its emotional narrative. It is best appreciated as a polished commercial entertainer rather than a complex thriller.'
