Overview of the Surya Pickleball Tournament


The Surya Pickleball tournament, sanctioned by the Indian Pickleball Association as a PWR 100 event, has commenced at the Surya Pickleball Academy in Indore. Scheduled from March 27 to 30, this tournament showcases a blend of emerging talents and experienced players, highlighting the sport's growing popularity in India. A total of 90 participants are competing across 18 different categories, uniting players of various ages and skill levels in a single competitive environment.


Among the standout competitors is Hriday Arora, a promising Under-12 singles player who has already achieved success in local tournaments. Another notable participant is Ashriyaa Singh, who enters the competition with a silver medal from the IPA Nationals held in Bengaluru. Aanshi Goyal is also a contender to watch, having secured silver in the Under-16 doubles category at the same national event.


The tournament features a diverse range of categories, with the Men’s Singles Intermediate and Men’s Singles Advanced leading the pack, each attracting 25 participants. The Men’s Doubles Intermediate category has drawn 18 teams, while the Mixed Doubles Open also sees 18 entries, reflecting a strong interest in this format. In the women’s divisions, both Women’s Singles Intermediate and Women’s Doubles Advanced have eight participants each.


In the junior categories, the Under-12 boys’ singles has 10 entries, while the girls’ category includes eight. The Under-14 boys’ singles features 12 participants, followed by eight in the Under-16 boys’ singles. Both the Under-18 boys’ and girls’ singles categories have six players each.


Veteran categories are also well represented, with the 30-plus men’s singles attracting eight participants and the doubles category featuring 12. The 40-plus men’s singles and doubles have six and eight entries respectively, while the 50-plus men’s singles category includes five competitors.


With a total prize pool of Rs 100,000, this tournament not only provides competitive opportunities but also offers significant rewards, motivating players to excel.
