Raina's Confidence in RCB's Title Chances

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has expressed his belief that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is poised to clinch their first IPL title in 2025. He remarked that the team appears to be on a promising path this season.

In a discussion on Star Sports prior to RCB's crucial match against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 17, Raina commended the Rajat Patidar-led squad for their impressive performance and ability to maintain composure, particularly in bowling at their home ground.

“There are strong chances because Royal Challengers Bengaluru is playing in a different league this year. They've defended scores like 150 and 136 at Chinnaswamy, and their bowling unit has stepped up. The new captain has beaten Chennai Super Kings twice—once in Chennai and again at home, which speaks volumes,” Raina stated.

Historically known for their explosive batting yet inconsistent performances, RCB has transformed this season with a more cohesive team and effective bowling. With eight victories out of eleven matches, they currently hold the second position on the points table and have already qualified for the playoffs.

A Title-Winning Atmosphere

Raina, who has previously won the IPL with CSK, noted that the atmosphere within the RCB camp resembles that of a championship-winning team. He suggested that this could be the year when RCB—and Virat Kohli—finally ends their 18-year wait for a title.

“The dressing room is positive, and these are signs of a team that can go all the way. Yes, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, and Punjab Kings are also doing well, but this might finally be Virat's year to lift the trophy after 18 years,” he added.

Despite stepping down as captain in 2021, Kohli remains integral to the franchise, and his performance this season has significantly boosted the team's success. The opener has accumulated 505 runs in 11 matches, averaging nearly 64, placing him fourth in the Orange Cap standings, with Suryakumar Yadav leading the pack.
