Sunil Gavaskar Predicts Punjab Kings as IPL Finalists Despite Recent Struggles
Gavaskar's Support for Punjab Kings
As the Punjab Kings (PBKS) prepare to face the Delhi Capitals (DC), former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has expressed his confidence in PBKS making it to the finals, alongside the reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Despite experiencing a challenging phase with three consecutive losses, PBKS may find an opportunity against a struggling Delhi Capitals team, which has faced defeat in seven out of their eleven matches. The upcoming match at Dharamsala could provide a much-needed change of scenery for PBKS, who are eager to reclaim their winning form.
Gavaskar's Insights on Team Dynamics
During an appearance on Star Sports' 'Cricket Live', Gavaskar remarked that a few losses could serve as a catalyst for PBKS to reset and avoid becoming complacent. He emphasized the significance of this match, noting that another defeat could lead to 'self-doubt' within the team. Gavaskar stated, "I still back Punjab Kings. A couple of losses can help a team reset and avoid complacency. Delhi Capitals have lost matches they should have won, which has been a persistent issue for them this season. Punjab understands the importance of this stage in the tournament and will aim to prevent self-doubt from creeping in with another loss. I still see Punjab Kings and RCB as my finalists for this season."
