Suniel Shetty's Heartfelt Tribute to KL Rahul
In Mumbai, actor Suniel Shetty shared his pride after his son-in-law, cricketer KL Rahul, achieved a remarkable century against England at Headingley Stadium in Leeds. He took to social media to express his feelings, stating, “Proud of you, son,” in a touching message.
On Instagram, Shetty posted a photo of Rahul from the match, captioning it: “A knock that spoke less, but said everything. Proud of you son KL Rahul.”
He also highlighted the performance of Rishabh Pant, who scored 118 runs on the fourth day of the match, following his 134 in the first innings. Pant made history as the first Indian batter to score centuries in both innings of a Test match in England.
Shetty praised Pant, writing: “Two innings. Two centuries. One fearless heart. Rishabh Pant.”
Additionally, Suniel shared a post noting that Rahul communicated in Tamil with Sai, in Hindi with Pant, and in Kannada with Karun Nair. After the stumps, he would converse with broadcasters in English, to which Suniel remarked: “Proudly Indian.”
The impressive centuries from KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant have placed India in a strong position in the first Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test, extending their lead beyond 300 runs as of June 23.
At tea, India's lead stood at 304 runs, with their second innings score at 298/4 after 75 overs, as Rahul and Pant capitalized on the old ball while England struggled to find answers.
Rahul remained unbeaten at 120, marking his ninth Test century with 15 boundaries, while Pant dazzled with 118 runs, his eighth century in the format, also featuring 15 boundaries and three sixes.
Prior to their 195-run partnership at Headingley, Rahul and Pant had previously scored centuries together at The Oval in 2018. Pant set multiple records, becoming the first wicketkeeper and fifth Indian batter to score two hundreds in the same Test match abroad.
