Ashmita Women’s Weightlifting League 2025 Takes Place in Kangra

Kangra: The Ashmita Women’s Weightlifting League 2025 was successfully held at the HIET Group of Institutions in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, marking a significant achievement for the region.


This event is part of a national series taking place in 50 major cities across India, and the selection of Kangra as a host site is celebrated as a notable accomplishment for Himachal Pradesh.


During the event, Mr. Dushyant Kayastha, Managing Director of HIET, expressed his appreciation to Mr. Sahdev Yadav, President of the Indian Weightlifting Federation, stating:


“It is a proud moment for Himachal to host such a prestigious national event. This will provide our daughters with a platform to demonstrate their skills on a national stage.”


The league was inaugurated under the patronage of Mr. Kayastha, with international referee Mr. Pradeep Sharma and Mr. Raj Kumar, Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Weightlifting Association, attending as special guests.


Women athletes from various districts in Himachal Pradesh showcased their talents across different weight categories. A standout performance came from a silver medalist at the Khelo India Women’s Games, who lifted 110 kg to secure the gold medal, becoming the highlight of the competition.


Additionally, athlete Vanshika from Dhauladhar Weightlifting Academy earned a silver medal in the 62 kg category, bringing pride to her academy.


The closing ceremony featured Mr. Raman Kayastha, Chairman of the Dhauladhar Education Society, who honored the winners and wished them success in their future endeavors. He remarked,


“Events like these motivate our daughters to excel.”


The entire competition was conducted with a spirit of discipline, dedication, and sportsmanship. The organizing committee announced intentions to host similar events regularly to continue nurturing emerging talent in the state.
