Stuart Broad Criticizes ICC for Fining Mohammed Siraj Over Celebration

Broad's Outrage Over Siraj's Fine
Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad has expressed his discontent with the International Cricket Council (ICC) for imposing a fine on Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj due to his 'aggressive celebration'. Broad highlighted the inconsistency in officiating, noting that Indian player Shubman Gill has been seen swearing on live television without facing similar repercussions.
Siraj was penalized 15% of his match fee following a breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the fourth day of the third Test against England at Lord's. The incident occurred when Siraj celebrated near the batter after a dismissal, which was deemed provocative under Article 2.5 of the ICC Code.
Broad's Reaction on Social Media
Broad took to social media platform X to voice his opinion, stating, 'Find this ridiculous. Siraj 15% for aggressive celebration. Gill swears live on TV and carries on, and what? It's either both or neither. Players aren't and shouldn't be robots, but consistency is key.'
In addition to the fine, Siraj received one demerit point, marking his second offense within a 24-month period, bringing his total to two demerit points.
Gill's Sledging Incident
Interestingly, Gill was observed sledging and using explicit language towards Zak Crawley during the final moments of day four, yet he has not faced any fines for his actions.
As for the match, India is struggling to chase down 193 runs, currently at 112/8 after the first session on the final day, with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja being their last hope.
