Steve Smith is unsure if he will participate in the 2027 Ashes series in England, as he will be 38 years old by then. He expressed that the seasoned Australian team is eager to compete in this series. The Baggy Greens secured a convincing five-wicket victory against England, led by Ben Stokes, in the fifth and final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, clinching the Ashes series 4-1.

Mitchell Starc, who took the most wickets in the series, was named Player of the Series, while opener Travis Head earned Player of the Match for his impressive 163 runs in the first innings. The host team triumphed in Perth, Brisbane, and Adelaide, while the Three Lions made a memorable comeback with a win in Melbourne. Notably, Smith stepped in as acting captain in the absence of regular captain Pat Cummins, who only played in the Adelaide match. Smith missed the third Test in Adelaide due to illness.


In the Ashes series, Smith ranked as the fourth-highest run-scorer. The veteran batsman accumulated 286 runs at an impressive average of 57.20 across eight innings in four matches, including one half-century and two centuries.
